Masked men storm home, attack resident in Sydney

Parliament returns with priorities on the board
Police were called to a home in Abbott Street, Merrlyands, at about 1.45am overnight.
They were told a group of men wearing face coverings broke into the home and attacked a male resident aged in his 40s, before running away.

A group of masked men stormed a home in Merrylands, Sydney.
The resident was treated by paramedics for facial injuries and taken to hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
A short time later, police were called to a car on fire at Elizabeth Street in Granville.

The occupant was taken to hospital.
The blaze was extinguished but the car was destroyed.
Police are investigating whether the incidents are linked.
