Scott Riccardi of New Jersey wins 16th straight 'Jeopardy!': tied for 10th on wins list

The 2021 Rutgers graduate won his 16th straight "Jeopardy!" game on July 24 to move into a tie for 10th place on the game's consecutive wins list, according to the "Jeopardy!" website. Riccard is now tied at 16 with Ryan Long from 2022.

Riccardi, an engineer from Somerville, began his winning streak on July 3 and has career earnings of $455,000, which puts him in eighth place on the regular-season money list on the long-running show (Check out the lists below).

On the Thursday, July 24 show, Riccardi defeated Sarah Rubenfeld, an attorney from Houston, and Senay Goitom, a software engineer originally from Madison, Wisconsin.

As has been his trademark during the run, he had a big lead heading into Final Jeopardy with more than double his next closest competitor on this show.

According to TheJeopardyFan.com, the Final Jeopary was: "A version of this theoretical economic process was 'horse & sparrow'; if you fed the horse enough oats, the sparrows fed afterwards."

Both Riccardi and Rubenfeld knew answer: "What is trickle-down economics?"

The final money totals for the game were: Riccardi with $24,090, Rubenfield $7,600 and Goitom $1,800.

Riccardi is by far the winningest contestant on this season of "Jeopardy!"

According to the show's Tournament of Champions tracker, Riccardi's streak has him ahead of eight-time champ Laura Faddah on this season's leaderboard. The season began Sept. 9, 2024 and three other contestants have reached the six-game threshold.

He also has already qualified for the Season 41 Tournament of Champions. The annual competition is generally reserved for contestants who earn at least five "Jeopardy!" wins, although the show may invite champions with fewer victories if there are not enough five-game winners.
