Mikel Arteta teased that there could be more to come from Arsenal in this summer's transfer window after the Gunners' finally sealed Viktor Gyokeres' £63.5million signing.

Arsenal put an end to their two-month saga with Sporting CP on Saturday, announcing the Sweden international's arrival, before unveiling him before their pre-season game against Newcastle less than 24 hours later.

Also joining Arteta's ranks for the 2025-26 season are Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard.

Arteta had bemoaned the club's inability to supply him with more firepower in the January transfer window, but the financial backing has been strong for him in the first summer under new sporting director Andrea Berta, who replaced Edu.

Despite already securing six new players and their summer spending almost eclipsing £200m, Arteta hinted that the north London club may not stop at Gyokeres.

When asked if their business is done, he said: 'Let's see. The market is still going on and we'll have to balance out the squad as well. I think we'll be open to see what happens.'

The midfielder is understood to favour a move to the Emirates, with many close to the situation confident a transfer will go through in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, while Eze's signing does not hinge on this, Arsenal would prefer to sell one of their assets before splurging on new players.

So far, the club have only recouped £7m from departures, with Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos departing for around £4.5m and £2.5m respectively.
