Shubman Gill etched his name in the history books with a heroic knock to help India pull off a miracle to draw the fourth Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester and ensure they have a chance to avoid a series-defining defeat heading into the series finale at the Oval Cricket Ground.
Gill made his fourth ton of the series with a knock of 103 in 238 balls, which set the stage for India to level the game after conceding a 311-run lead before finding themselves 0-2. Gill put up a huge partnership of 188 runs with KL Rahul (90) for the third wicket before Washington Sundar (101) and Ravindra Jadeja (107) ensured India did not lose any more wickets.

The ton at Old Trafford is Gill's fourth century in the series. The Indian captain is only the third player in history to score four centuries in a series while leading the side, alongside Don Bradman (Australia vs India, 1947) and Sunil Gavaskar (India vs West Indies, 1978).
However, Gill is the first player to achieve the feat in an away series, breaking a world record first set by Don Bradman in 1938. Across the years, nine visiting captains managed to score three centuries in a series.

Gill is only the third Indian batter after Yashasvi Jaiswal ( vs England, 2024) and Sunil Gavaskar (vs West Indies, 1971 and 1978) to score more than 700 runs in a series.
His tally of four centuries is the joint-most by an Indian in a series after Sunil Gavaskar (vs West Indies, 1971) and Virat Kohli (vs Australia, 2014). All three instances have come away from home.
Gill is only the second visiting player after Bradman (1930) to score four centuries against England in a series.
