‘Shiny Rust’ revved up the Wrigley: Classic car show rolls into Port Huron

"Car Show" sign invites guests into the event.
Even with gray skies overhead and fewer cars than expected, the first-ever Wrigley Center Classic Car Show still roared to life Saturday afternoon, bringing chrome, culture and community spirit to downtown Port Huron.
Put on by Shiny Rust Promotions and led by longtime car show organizer Randy “Wolfman” Adam, the Shiny Rust Hot Rod Spectacular marked the launch of what many hope will become an annual tradition.
More than 40 classic cars and hot rods filled both the inside and outside of the Wrigley Center from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, offering everything from high-horsepower muscle to polished chrome antiques.
Adam, who earned the nickname “Wolfman” years ago for his rock ‘n’ roll look and high-energy personality, has been around cars and stages most of his life. He built model cars as a kid, drag raced at Motor City Dragway, and spent a decade touring the world as a production manager for music acts like The Romantics and Molly Hatchet.
Even while on tour, his heart never strayed far from cars. He would often seek out nearby drag strips or local car shows, borrowing keys and slipping away to catch a few races.
Adam returned to Michigan in the late 1980s and eventually founded Shiny Rust Promotions in 2017. Since then, he’s grown from organizing small community events to hosting major shows at places like Michigan International Speedway and now, Port Huron’s Wrigley Center.

What made Saturday’s event stand out wasn’t just the lineup of vehicles, but the venue itself. The Wrigley Center, typically home to shops, bars, and an arcade, opened its interior to display cars alongside its eclectic mix of businesses. Guests explored the center, grabbed food from local vendors and mingled among polished engines and custom builds.
Longtime enthusiast Paul Campbell, who’s been showing cars for over 25 years, said the draw isn’t just the vehicles, it’s the people.
“I like to show off my car,” Campbell said. “You’ve got this camaraderie, and you can see the same people and hang out.”

The car show also plays into a broader effort to revitalize downtown and highlight the Wrigley Center as a community destination. It draws visitors, boosts business, and introduces people to local gems they may not have known existed, including a hidden speakeasy tucked inside the center.
With support from local businesses, first responders and city departments, Adam says all signs point to the Wrigley car show becoming a fixture on the local calendar.
“It’s crazy — I never thought I’d be like this," he said.
