The world's largest hot dog chain announces partnership with Walmart

Walmart shoppers will soon find Wienerschnitzel locations inside select stores. The hot dog chain announced its plans to open six restaurants inside Walmart locations this fall.

The restaurants will be located at stores in Washington, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and California. The partnership will help the world's largest hot dog chain branch out and bring more stores to the Eastern US.

'Wienerschnitzel has spent decades building a strong reputation, especially on the West Coast, and this expansion into Walmart stores signifies a new era of growth for the brand,' said Wienerschnitzel's director of franchise expansion Shak Turner.

Wienerschnitzel's Walmart menus will feature fan-favorite items like its Chili Cheese Dogs, Junkyard Dogs, chili cheese fries, jalapeño poppers, and Tastee Freez deserts. The restaurant chain has approximately 340 locations throughout 13 states and more than 50 US units in development.

Walmart and Wienerschnitzel have not revealed if they plan to open more restaurants together in the future. Walmart frequently looks for prospective tenants to enter its stores and is excited for Wienerschnitzel to be part of it.

Before Wienerschnitzel, Walmart entered partnerships with brands like Burger King , McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Subway. The partnership is one of many changes the retailer will be undergoing this year.

All of what's to come began in 2023 after Walmart unveiled a $9 billion makeover for 1,400 stores . The newest design began a small rollout in Arkansas in 2024, and is in the process of expanding to 650 stores this year.

Walmart also debuted a new logo in January, which unimpressed shoppers believed looked similar to the old one. Other 'exciting' Walmart changes include an expansion of fuel station convenience stores and a revamped delivery system to compete with Amazon.

Besides revamps, Walmart has been forced to make some unpopular changes due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. The retail empire announced it would hike its prices after warning customers this was a possible result of tariffs.

Walmart employees leaked photos of price increases showing that some products have seen an 80 percent cost hike. Wienerschnitzel has also made changes recently, including a partnership with Presto Phoenix for AI-driven voice ordering technology and new franchise agreements.

Like fast food chain hamburgers , the price of hot dogs could potentially be altered if they are imported from other countries. As of now, it is unclear if Wienerschnitzel plans to raise its menu prices as a result of the tariffs. DailyMail.com has reached out to Wienerschnitzel for comment about the partnership.
