KNX Hero: Empowering the next generation!
Bryant Sparrow of Moreno Valley has been a handyman and worked in construction for years, but when he suffered a heart attack in 2021, he decided to shift gears and create the Handy Blessed Hands Youth Mentorship Program.

It was an idea sparked by his daughter.
First, she inspired Sparrow to start his own handyman company. Then, six months into the business, "She just said, you know, you've been teaching kids in my family, so why don't you put on there that you're starting something with the youth," he told Heroes Host Heather Jordan. "She created my name, and I took it and ran with it."

Sparrow has been battling a few serious health issues, but he doesn't let any of it slow him down. Every day, he puts one foot in front of the other, living not just for himself and his family but also for the young men in his community who need a little guidance.
From teaching construction and handyman skills like demolition, plumbing, and landscaping to etiquette and money management, Sparrow is opening a world of possibilities for each young person who goes through his program.

"My mission behind this nonprofit is to give them training skills while they're in school so that way they know what to expect out of high school," he said. "I'm pretty much giving them a glimpse of a lot of things."

Sparrow said that he is living out his purpose in working with these kids, teaching them to dream big, and providing the tools to make those dreams come true.
