Sommelier’s dream: Le Tesh Wine Lounge to bring global sips to downtown Roseville

When level II certified sommelier Amitesh ‘Tesh’ Diyal walked into an empty, abandoned space on downtown Roseville's Vernon Street, he saw more than an open floor plan — he saw his future.

Diyal has spent over 15 years in the hospitality and restaurant industry, working at high-end Sacramento restaurants like Ella Dining Room & Bar, Piatti, Morton’s The Steakhouse and Michelin-starred The Kitchen. He also operates his online wine shop, Wine With Tesh, and teaches people about wine.

But his next adventure is his own storefront. Le Tesh Wine Lounge will be a boutique wine destination.

Diyal says Le Tesh Wine won’t be a place to drink what’s familiar, but rather a space to explore and challenge your palate.

“I think people kind of get stuck in what they enjoy,” Diyal said. “It's gonna be an ever-evolving selection of wines from all over the world, and ones to choose if you want something off the beaten path.”

Don’t come expecting a full kitchen. Le Tesh will offer a curated menu of upscale snacks like truffle or caviar-flavored chips, but the main focus will be wine.

Instead of in-house meals, Diyal hopes to collaborate and partner with nearby restaurants like Daniellos and The Monk's Cellar, allowing guests to bring takeout to pair with their wine.

“There are so many great food spots right downstairs,” Diyal said. “I feel like I'm just kind of filling in this cool, unique niche that isn't there at the moment.”

While a soft opening is in the works, Diyal warns seating will be limited and likely booked out, but he wants to assure people they'll be able to get a spot after the soft opening happens.

“I promise, we’ll get everyone in. I want it to be small, I want it to be intimate because if it gets too big, it stops feeling like me,” said Diyal.

So whether you’re a seasoned collector or someone who just enjoys a casual glass, Le Tesh aims to be your new favorite spot to sip, learn and unwind.

“Come with curiosity,” Diyal said. “Leave with a new favorite bottle or at least a great story.”

La Tesh Wine Lounge will be located at 217 Vernon St.
