West Virginia beer festivals for the 2025 Oktoberfest season

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — It might be the latter half of the year, but north central West Virginia still has several more beer festivals in 2025 as Oktoberfest season approaches. If you live in Monongalia, Marion or Preston county, you’ll have an event or two in your own backyard, along with one more major festival that’s a little farther away in the southern part of the state.

Oktoberfest at Alpine Lake Resort

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 20 — Noon to 6 p.m.
  • Where: Alpine Lake Resort Boathouse in Terra Alta

In Terra Alta, the Alpine Lake Resort will hold its annual Oktoberfest event at its lakeside boathouse. The event is free to the public and will have authentic German food and drinks as well as several events throughout the day, including a golf scramble, a stein holding competition and a chainsaw carving demonstration.

Hops on the Mon in Morgantown

  • When: Date to be announced
  • Where: High Street in downtown Morgantown

“Hops on the Mon” is one of Morgantown’s largest and longest-running craft beer festivals and always has a wide selection of craft brewers to choose from. Although specific details like which brewers will be there and the exact date have yet to be announced, the event is usually held in October.

Tickets for Hops on the Mon have not yet gone on sale as of the writing of this article.

Frank N Stein in Fairmont

  • When: Saturday, Nov. 1 — 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Where: Monroe Street in downtown Fairmont

The Frank N Stein beer festival is a Halloween-themed event where attendees are encouraged to dress up and enjoy craft beer, hot dogs and other food, which will be served up by Vandetta’s, Wright Dawgs and Glen Elk Boys.

The event is put on by Main Street Fairmont and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, and is in its second year after the inaugural festival was held last October. You can see a list of attending breweries below, but there will also be live music performed by Weary Space Wanderer, according to the event’s official Facebook page.

If you find yourself in the southern end of the state, Charleston will be holding its 17th annual OctoberWest on Oct. 11 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. According to a Facebook post from event organizers, OctoberWest will have more than 150 regional and national craft beers, along with live bands and food vendors.
