Vanished Valley Brewing Co. stuck with bill after dine-and-dash

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – A local brewery that offers a wide variety of food was a victim of a suspected dine-and-dash incident last week.

Vanished Valley Brewing Co. in Ludlow posted on social media on Saturday several photos of a couple that were in their establishment on Monday, August 11, at around 6:15 p.m. The couple had two children and a dog with them and enjoyed food and two drinks.

Just after 7:00 p.m., the guests reportedly left without paying, Vanished Valley Brewing said. They said that the guests didn’t have any complaints and received good service. When they were given the bill, the man pulled the vehicle up, which was towing a U-Haul trailer, and waited while the woman walked off the patio and got into the vehicle and drove away.

Since Monday, the social post has over 1,500 shares and more than 150 comments. Co-owner Mike Rodrigues told 22News that a police report was not filed, and the reason behind the post was to make others aware if these people show up at another restaurant and attempt to dine and dash.

“This is NOT okay. You do not steal, and you do not dine & dash. Not only does this hurt our small business, but it also directly affects our hardworking servers who lose out when this happens,” said Vanished Valley Brewing Co. in Ludlow on Facebook.

Rodrigues said that a generous customer reached out to the brewery to leave the two servers working that night a gratuity. The brewery is located at 782 Center Street in Ludlow and is open seven days a week with outdoor seating available.
