The Chicago Bears are looking to take a big step in 2025, as evidenced by their impactful offseason. They hired the highly-coveted Ben Johnson to be their new head coach, improved their offensive line in a huge way, and made changes throughout the lineup.
Second-year quarterback Caleb Williams is going to have an offensive guru leading the way, which could be the key to him taking that next step into stardom. As a whole, Williams and the team must show vast improvement over what they were a year prior.
Part of that improvement should come from the help of Chicago's rookie draft class. The Bears will have a handful of rookies who could make an impact right away. With that in mind, we're ranking Chicago's rookies by their potential impact in 2025.
1. TE Colston Loveland
The Bears drafted Colston Loveland at 10th overall for a reason. They believe that he is going to come in and impact the offense in a big way. Loveland will be a part of a two-tight-end set with Cole Kmet on a Bears offense looking to improve with new head coach Ben Johnson leading the charge. Loveland is the most important rookie coming in for a handful of reasons. In addition to being talented enough to be a first-round pick, he has the potential to help Chicago's biggest asset, quarterback Caleb Williams, grow his game, and the responsibility of his position is incredibly important to the outcome of a game.
2. WR Luther Burden III
The Bears have some big weapons at their disposal, and they were able to luck into Luther Burden III in the second round of the draft. While Chicago's receivers are led by veterans DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, Burden could play a key role in Ben Johnson's offense in the slot. While Burden missed most of the offseason program due to a soft tissue injury, he'll be full-go in time for training camp when Johnson can get an opportunity to utilize his skillset. The talent is there for Burden to make an immediate impact as a rookie.
3. OT Ozzy Trapilo
The Bears made major improvements to their offensive line this offseason, most importantly with veteran additions. But Ozzy Trapilo could play a huge role as a rookie. Trapilo is currently locked in a battle for the starting left tackle job with Kiran Amegadjie, as well as incumbent Braxton Jones (who's returning from injury). If Trapilo is able to win the starting left tackle job, he could certainly climb this list given his importance along this revamped offensive line.
4. LB Ruben Hyppolite II
While Ruben Hyppolite II was a surprise pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft, it's clear that the Bears believe he can be impactful as a rookie. Hyppolite is an incredibly speedy linebacker and has already made an impression on head coach Ben Johnson, who dubbed him a standout player this offseason. He's currently entrenched in a battle for the third linebacker spot behind T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds. So if he wins the starting job, his importance as a rookie will skyrocket.
5. DL Shemar Turner
The Bears added some upgrades to their defensive line this offseason, including veteran Grady Jarrett to join Gervon Dexter Sr. and Andrew Billings along the interior. Shemar Turner has a ton of potential on this defensive line, but he doesn't project to serve as a significant contributor as a rookie given the interior trio of Jarrett, Dexter and Billings. But he'll get his opportunities to thrive with his violent style of play that fits Dennis Allen's defense well. His ceiling as a pass rusher makes him one of the most important rookies coming in.
6. RB Kyle Monangai
Although the Bears have D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson, they were looking to help at the running back position. They took a chance on Kyle Monangai, and he will get his fair share of touches as a rookie. In the preseason, we will get a glimpse of what he can do, but only time will tell what his potential is in this Chicago running back room. His draft status keeps him a bit lower on this list, but being a potential contributor out of the backfield makes him worth keeping an eye on.
7. CB Zah Frazier
Like linebacker, cornerback wasn't a huge need for the Bears. They have Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon and Tyrique Stevenson as their featured starters, but that doesn't mean that Zah Frazier can't make an impact. Frazier has incredible upside, he just can't rank ahead of the other rookies listed above due to his position on the team. When Frazier gets his opportunities, expect him to make plays using his speed, skill, and size. It will be exciting to watch and that could lead to him getting more playing time as the season goes along.
8. OL Luke Newman
Luke Newman, like Ozzy Trapilo, is an offensive lineman looking to help this team take a step. He brings versatility to the offensive line having played tackle, guard and center. Newman won't be a starter right away -- as the offensive line is all but set outside of left tackle -- but every team in the league is looking for solid depth, which is what Newman brings.
