Flood watch in effect ahead of Monday storm chances

Monday is mostly cloudy and a little humid with high temperatures in the 80s before scattered showers and storms move into the state.

After about 3 p.m. Monday, showers and thunderstorms will move into northwest Connecticut.

The concern is that a few storms could create heavy rain and stall over parts of the state this afternoon and evening.

A flood watch is in effect for Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield and New Haven counties until midnight tonight.

Showers will dissipate after the sun sets on Monday.

Temperatures are expected to lift to near 90 tomorrow.

Heat index values could be near 100 degrees at times this week.
