2025 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport in Malaysia – 3.0T mild-hybrid, from RM470k; RM25k cheaper than PHEV
BMW Malaysia has launched the facelifted G05-generation BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport mild-hybrid, and this joins the X5 xDrive50e M Sport plug-in hybrid that was first shown for the Malaysian market in January 2024.
Here, the BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is priced from RM469,800 on-the-road without insurance, or RM508,200 with the extended warranty and service package. The plug-in hybrid xDrive50e M Sport continues to be sold alongside, and the PHEV is priced at RM494,800 base, up to RM533,200 with the extended warranty and service package.
Kitted in the M Sport trim specification, the xDrive40i M Sport is outwardly similar to the PHEV variant. Under the skin, the xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged inline-six cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid electrification.
This bringing combined outputs of 381 PS and 540 Nm driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Thus equipped, the X5 xDrive40i does the 0-100 km/h acceleration benchmark in 5.4 seconds, onwards to a top speed of 250 km/h.
Chassis equipment is comprised of air suspension which can be raised by 40 mm, and conversely, be lowered by 20 mm in Sport mode, or by up to 40 mm for easier loading of luggage. Suspension configuration is double wishbones in front and a five-link layout at the rear. Rolling stock is a set of 21-inch Style 915 M bicolour alloys, shod in tyres 275/40R21 in front and 315/35 R21 at the rear.
Driving assistance systems in the X5 xDrive40i M Sport includes the Driving Assistant Professional package that brings Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Emergency Stop Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Change Assistant, Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision protection, Crossing-Traffic Warning in front, Evasion Assistant, Intersection Warning with city braking function, and a wrong-way warning function.
Also on is the Parking Assistant Professional package, comprised of Active Park Distance Control, lateral parking aid, and a Surround View System with Remote 3D View. Automatic parking supports parallel and perpendicular parking manoeuvres, and the Manoeuvring Assistant enables up to 10 preset parking paths to be saved.
Infotainment in the X5 xDrive40i M Sport is the Live Cockpit Professional setup comprised of a 12.3-inch driver instrumentation display and a 14.9-inch central display, powered by BMW Operating System 8.5. The centre console is like that of the PHEV, using a toggle style transmission selector – as in common on current BMW models – and touch-surface controls.
Smartphone integration in the X5 xDrive40i M Sport includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with audio courtesy of a Harman Kardon surround sound system. Interior upholstery is now of the Sensafin synthetic material – now also on the xDrive50e, rather than the Merino leather that was specified at the PHEV’s launch last year – and is offered in a sole colour choice of black.
Also included in the xDrive40i M Sport are the luggage compartment package, roller sunblinds for the rear side windows, and a wireless device charging tray.
The 2025 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport now arrives in Malaysia priced from RM469,800 on-the-road without insurance, or RM508,200 with the extended warranty and service package.
