More than 2,500 US store closures have been announced for 2025 as a host of major retail chains scale back their physical presence. That’s slightly up from last year, though still below 2023’s total which surged past 2,800 after Bed Bath & Beyond’s collapse. The trend highlights ongoing pressure on brick-and-mortar retail.
