We’ve had sports dramas about football, basketball, boxing and karate – and now we have golf. Owen Wilson plays pro-golfer Pryce Cahill, whose glittering career comes toppling down when he has a very public mid-competition meltdown. We catch up with him 20 years later, freshly fired from his job at a sports shop and with a messy divorce on the horizon. But when he meets troubled teenage golf prodigy Santi (Peter Dager), he sees a chance to re-enter the world of professional golf and offers to become his mentor.

Ginny and Georgia season three

The last time we saw the Miller family, mum Georgia (Brianne Howey) was being whisked away in a police car after being arrested for murdering her neighbour’s husband. So, as we head into season three, Ginny (Antonia Gentry) is left to fend for herself and her nine-year-old half-brother Austin (Diesel La Torraca). What started as a light-hearted mother-daughter lovefest has transformed into a rather dark – yet still glossy – crime thriller.

FUBAR season two

Thursday 12 June, Netflix

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Luke Brunner and Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta Nelso (Photo: Christos Kalohoridis/Netflix)

Creator Nick Santora (also responsible for Reacher and Prison Break) has promised that the second season of his Arnold Schwarzenegger action romp will be “bananas”. Arnie is back as CIA agent Luke Brunner, forced out of retirement for one last mission alongside his daughter (Monica Barbaro). This time around, he’ll face off against another action movie legend, Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity in The Matrix) as German spy – and Luke’s former lover – Greta. Since FUBAR stands for “f***ed up beyond all recognition”, I imagine it won’t be smooth ride.

The Buccaneers season two

Wednesday 18 June, Apple TV+

Based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished 1937 novel, the first series of The Buccaneers followed in the footsteps of Bridgerton and The Great in its riotous modernisation of womanhood in period dramas. Now the Duchess of Tintagel, Nan (Kristine Frøseth) has bigger problems to deal with than her secret dalliance with British gent Guy (Matthew Broome) – including the arrival of her suspected birth mother Nell, played by Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester. But that’s small fry compared to the plight of her sister’s, who is currently pregnant and on the run from her abusive marriage.

We Were Liars

Wednesday 18 June, Prime Video

Emily Alyn Lind plays Cadence (Photo: Jessie Redmond/Prime)

Cadence Sinclair Eastman (Emily Alyn Lind), the eldest granddaughter of an affluent property developer, spends every summer on the family’s private island off the coast of Massachusetts with her cousins. But at 15 she suffered a terrible accident that caused memory loss and hasn’t been to the island in two years – until now. Her determination to uncover the truth of what happened to her soon unravels decades of family secrets and trauma. Twisty and slick, We Were Liars is going to be the next big YA TV hit.

Ironheart

Tuesday 24 June, Disney+

Dominique Thorne as Ironheart (Photo: Disney/Marvel)

Another month, another Marvel story to keep up with. This one is a spin-off of the 2022 film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and follows Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), an engineering whiz-kid from Chicago who builds her own version of Iron Man’s powerful suit. Her superhero abilities capture the attention of Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), also known as The Hood, thanks to his mystical hood that allows him to harness the power of dark magic. But whether Parker will be friend or foe to Riri remains to be seen.

The Bear season 4

Wednesday 25 June, Disney+

Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu (Photo: Disney/FX)

Four seasons in, I think we can definitively say that The Bear is not a comedy – I can’t remember the last time it made me laugh, but it has certainly made me cry. There are many questions to be answered in this new serving of episodes: will Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) stay at The Bear or leave to become the chef de cuisine at Adam Shapiro’s new restaurant? Just how bad was that review? And will Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) ever get the Michelin Star he yearns for? Unsurprisingly for a show as big as The Bear, details are being kept very secret – but with Cicero (James Kalinowski) threatening to pull funding, we can be sure the stresses of running a high-end restaurant will remain.

Countdown

Wednesday 25 June, Prime Video

Jessica Camacho as Amber Oliveras and Jensen Ackles as Mark Meachum (Photo: Elizabeth Morris/Prime)

No, not an Amazon remake of Channel 4’s daytime competition – this Countdown is just a tad more on the thrilling side of TV. Created by Derek Haas (Chicago Fire), this nail-biter kicks off when a Department of Homeland Security officer is murdered in broad daylight. The case falls on the desk of LAPD detective Mark Meachum (Jensen Ackles, Supernatural), who leads an undercover team of agents in tracking down the mysterious killer. Perhaps you won’t be surprised to hear that he soon uncovers a much bigger conspiracy – one that puts Meachum and his team’s own lives at risk.

Squid Game season three

Friday 27 June, Netflix

Lee Byung-hun as Front Man (Photo: No Ju-han/Netflix)

We didn’t need a second series of Netflix’s hit Korean slasher, never mind a third. Thankfully, this is the final instalment of Squid Game, so (hopefully) we’ll finally get answers to how – and critically, why – these deadly games came to be. The drama will pick up directly after Seong Gi-hun’s failed rebellion against the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who he didn’t realise was undercover as his friend all along. With new games on the way (including a new terrifying murderous doll), it looks increasingly unlikely that Gi-hun will be able to escape the Squid Game this time.

Taron Egerton as Dave Gudsen and Jurnee Smollett as Michelle Calderone (Photo: Robert Falconer/Apple)

Taron Egerton is starting to make a name for himself in the action world after his turn in Apple TV+’s Christmas flick Carry-On. Here he plays Dave Gudsen, an arson investigator who – with the help of Detective Michelle Calderone (Jurnee Smollett) – is tasked with stopping two serial fire starters from setting their next target ablaze. But soon their job becomes an obsession, and their inner demons begin to interfere with their investigations. If that’s not tempting enough for you, the theme tune, “Dialling In”, is a new song by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.
