There are some jingles and songs that send you close to madness. A few because they're just annoying, but there's a special place in Music Hell for the tunes you have to listen to while on hold. They can haunt your dreams/nightmares. Being made to wait on hold with a company on the phone irritates us all, no question (Picture: Getty Images)

Indicator lights are there so that drivers can indicate which way they intend to turn. Fail to indicate with those indicators and that driver hasn't indicated to you where they're going. Making yours and other drivers' lives a whole lot harder than they need to be. It's not tricky - just INDICATE! (Picture: Getty Images)

It's just selfish, isn't it? Because someone (usually driving a BMW, let's face it) can't be bothered to spend an extra ten seconds straightening up or trying their park again, they hog two bays. Meaning someone else can't park at all. It's beyond irritating (Picture: Weetabix / Prank PR / SWNS)

How are we supposed to remember the 63,000 passwords that we all have to everything? 15 digit and number strings with punctuation marks, each different to the last by one or more character. Plus every time you try to log in, you can't and you have to change it again and the new password ends up even less memorable that whatever the last one was. AAARGH! (Picture: Getty Images)

Sure, we're all just shuffling around Earth undertaking a series of pointless tasks just to keep us busy and distract us from the crushing realisation that nothing really matters and we're all going to die. But still. Some of us have got to get places. But why do some people amble along sooooo slowly?! It's like their batteries are running out (Picture: Getty Images)

Cyclists. Few people rile up others quite like cyclists. Drivers don't like 'em. Pedestrians don't like 'em. There's plenty they do that annoys folk. Yet right up there is refusing - quite literally - to stay in their lanes (Picture: Getty Images)

You're walking down a corridor. Someone's walking in front of you. They're going through a door. One you're due to pass through in a few seconds. Surely they'll pause briefly and hold that door open for you, right? You'll do that awkward little jog with the polite smile and say, 'thanks'. That's just how society works. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work. Sometimes though, that person in front of you is in such an incredible rush that they can't slow down for three seconds to hold the door for you. Boy, they MUST be very busy and important people, eh...? (Picture: Getty Images)

How hard is it to just replace the loo roll once it's run out? You've used it up, there's none left for the next toilet user. So you swap the empty tube for a brand new roll, right? Well, of course you do. Polite people always do. That's not everyone, though. In fact, you can probably bet that the last person to use this toilet - who used up the paper and didn't replace it - was the same person that refused to hold that door open for you earlier (Picture: Getty Images)

More thoughtlessness, this time in the world of hygiene. Shared spaces require a kind of unspoken contract. You can't deep clean them every time you pass through them, it's not practical. But keep them tidy ferchrissakes! Failure to do so is one of Brits' biggest bugbears, according to the research (Picture: Getty Images)

Ask people what gets on their nerves and, it seems, minor driving offences rank pretty highly. Middle lane drivers who refuse to speed up and drive in the fast lane or admit their slowpokes and take the slow lane are one of the 30 things that grind people's gears (Picture: Getty Images)

Self-service checkouts make sense. Alright, they're impersonal and they require you to become a part-time sales assistant (for no salary), but whatever. If it gets you out of the supermarket or shop quicker -fine. Except half the time it doesn't. The checkout machines decide they don't like you and it's BOOOP! BOOOP! It's as if the machine is laughing at you. Perhaps it is (Picture: Getty Images)

Hey, look, plans change. Things happen. It's fine. But why does it seem as if - certainly with some people, at least - those things always have to happen ten minutes before you're due to meet up and do something? Leaving you stranded with nothing to do but stand there, annoyed (Picture: Getty Images)

Buses and trains are boring, aren't they? The only way to combat the tedium is to distract yourself with a book or magazine. Perhaps a little music. Of course, you'd listen to that music through headphones, wouldn't you? Of course you would. That's because you're not ludicrously selfish. Is there anything worse than people playing loud music on public transport? Other than, the smell of other people's body odour on public transport, of course (Picture: Getty Images)

Recycling isn't hard, but it takes a little work. You have to have a system for it at home, don't you? Your contribution isn't much, but it's a small part of a wider thing. If everyone does it then we undo some of the great damage us human beings have done to this sensitive planet of ours. It's just a pity your ignorant neighbour didn't get the memo, huh? Have they not watched anything of David Attenborough's in the past ten years?! (Picture: Getty Images)

AI is so incredibly advanced these days that it's on the verge of causing humanity some rather sizeable headaches. And yet still, apparently, robots aren't smart enough to click 'no' when asked if they're a robot when trying to access something online. Equally, it seems, they're not able to click all of the boxes which contain a motorcycle. Actually, those ones can be quite tricky. Especially when three pixels from the handlebar is peeking into that top right-hand box. Does it count? Surely it can't. So you don't click it and hit enter. WRONG! Try again! Oh, yeah. Don't you worry about it. Let your bag take a seat. Take the weight off its straps. Don't worry about any of the actual human beings on the train without seats. The ones who have paid to get on. They can just stand. Or cram into the toilet. How about they all try to lie down in the overhead luggage racks? Maybe they'll see if they can find your rucksack a nice little pillow while they're all up there, hmmm...? (Picture: Getty Images)

Umbrellas are designed to stop you getting wet when it rains. They've had the same basic design for centuries. And yet at no point has anyone sought to address the quite fundamental issue with the design of the umbrella: they can't handle a bit of wind. That's fine when it's raining with zero detectable breeze. But for the other 98% of the time when it rains, the conditions will also be a bit blowy. And your umbrella will blow inside out and flail about the place like a particularly overdramatic bathroom spider (Picture: Getty Images)

Another charging issue crops up. Battery levels are a major concern to modern-day folk, it seems. And that's not something that will get any better the more everyone swaps their petrol and diesel-powered cars for electric ones. Cordless headphones may look cool and be sans wires flapping about, but they do run out of battery. Stick them in to listen to some tunes to find out that the battery's dead and you'll be grumbling (Picture: Getty Images)

Milk is a precious resource for tea and coffee drinkers. So it's a killer when you reach for the carton or bottle and it's empty. Sports fans have always found things to get irate about when watching their favourite sport at home on TV. Especially followers of football. But the newly-introduced 'VAR' ('video assistant referee') technology seems to have tapped into a new form of pure rage. Overly officious offside decisions made by men in a little screen-filled cabin somewhere really seem to stick in the craw of the average Premier League fan (Picture: Weetabix / Prank PR / SWNS)
