What’s next for Las Vegas Strip land where Riviera once stood?
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — It’s been less than 10 years since the implosion of two hotel towers at the Riviera, a well known name that lasted nearly 60 years on the Las Vegas Strip.
Notorious mob associations in the 1950s, a brilliant curved facade on the Strip, and the campy “Crazy Girls” statue with its bronze butts are long gone — although the statue resurfaced in June at Circa Resort & Casino downtown.
The Riviera property was part of the land used to build the Las Vegas Convention Center’s West Hall, with construction starting in 2018, followed by the opening on June 8, 2021. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority didn’t need all the land after paying $182.5 million for the site in 2015.

The Riviera closes on the Las Vegas Strip in 2015.
Property facing the Strip today is fenced off, with big plans for 10 acres across from Circus Circus and south of Fontainebleau Las Vegas. That property sold for $125 million.
In September 2024, Clark County approved permits for a mixed-use retail development featuring a pair of 600-foot towers — one for a hotel and one residential — along with a 439-foot amusement ride and a 3,310-seat entertainment venue. The project doesn’t have a name yet.
Local developer Brett Torino is involved in the project under the name BPS Partners LLC. That company stepped in when a South American resort developer exited plans to buy the property for $120 million. The price for BPS was $125 million.
There is no announced starting date for construction. BPS has a deadline to start within nine years, but the consultant Nancy Amundsen, who presented the plan to the county, said it is expected to start much sooner than that.
A leasing sign remains on the rest of the property, a 13-acre site owned by the Siegel Group.
Real estate investor Steve Siegel is the founder of that group, which Las Vegans recognize with Siegel Suites and Siegel’s Bagelmania. Siegel’s Amazing Brands also has Pinkbox Doughnuts.
Aside from the leasing sign, which offers the site for events, there has been no indication what the Siegel Group has in store for the property.
