LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Just two weeks after a brush fire scorched parts of Wetlands Park, another fire burned over 100 acres Tuesday, according to Clark County.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to the brush fire in the Wetlands Park in a desert area northeast of Old Silver Bowl Park off Weisner Way just after 3 p.m.

Authorities were asking the public to avoid the area as crews work to contain the fire. This includes staying away from the W.B. Bennett RC Airfield.

“This is a recurring problem that’s happened several times over the years. The dryness doesn’t help either because it just spreads across the whole area,” local, Marquis Mack said.

As of 8 p.m., fire and BLM crews were working to contain the brush fire. Over 100 acres were impacted by the fire as of Tuesday night, according to Clark County. Crews were expected to work through the night to contain the fire.

LVMPD’s Air Unit assisted fire crews in checking for anyone still on or near the trails after the area was closed by park police. They also worked with fire personnel to provide estimates on the burn size, direction of travel, and the best access routes to reach the flames quickly, Metro police said.

The Wetlands Park Nature Center is closed for the day. Regular hours of operation are Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

No information on the cause of the fire has been released at this time.
