What are Labubus and where in Las Vegas can you get them?
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — From TikTok to backpacks, Labubu is everywhere in the Las Vegas valley.
Steve Johnson, known from Pawn Stars, showcased the world of Labubu collectibles at One of Us Comics in Henderson.
He broke down the origins of Labubu, which was created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung in 2015 and gained global attention after being launched by Pop Mart in 2019. The quirky character surged in popularity thanks to celebrity fans like Lisa from Blackpink and, most recently, Tom Brady, who was spotted sporting Labubu on his jeans over the weekend.
Steve compared Labubu’s rise to fame to the 1980s craze surrounding Cabbage Patch Kids.
“Labubu has inspired collector mania and in some cases literal fights in stores,” Johnson said.
Johnson also took time to educate the crowd on “Lafufu”—the notorious fake version of Labubu. He pointed out key red flags to spot: blurry packaging, off-center logos, and messy stitching. Still, he noted that even these knockoffs have managed to hold some market value.
Johnson shared that licensing deals are booming, with major names like Major League Baseball, Coca‑Cola, and even SpongeBob SquarePants teaming up with Pop Mart for their own official Labubu series.
Las Vegas offers plenty of spots for Labubu fans to dive deeper into the craze.
The Monster Labubu Café near the Miracle Mile Shops features plush displays and themed drinks, creating an immersive experience. For those looking to purchase authentic figures, Pop Mart at Fashion Show Mall is a go-to, along with select resellers across the country, like One of Us Comics.
