What’s next for the Louisiana Boardwalk?

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - What’s going on at the Boardwalk? This is the question many people in Shreveport-Bossier are asking as store after store closes.

Mayor Tommy Chandler recently said one of his goals in his second term is to boost business. He specifically said he has met with the owners and managers of the Boardwalk and supports their efforts to bring in new businesses.

“Business is the backbone of our local economy. I want to make sure Bossier City remains ‘business-friendly’ in order to attract new businesses and retain existing ones. I am committed to supporting all businesses and ensuring our rules and regulations are fair and not overly burdensome,” Mayor Chandler said Tuesday, June 24 in a news release. “I have met with the owner and managers of the Boardwalk and Pierre Bossier Mall and I support their efforts to attract new businesses. My Administration will seek opportunities to help revitalize empty and abandoned commercial properties throughout the City.”

Back in mid-May, yet another business on the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets closed its doors: Sweet Caroline’s Dueling Piano Bar. The bar had only been open a little more than a year. And a month before that, Hooters shut down after nearly 20 years in business.
