‘A place for everything and everything in its place’ was the underlying design focus of this ensuite with panoramic ocean views on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Drawing inspiration from its enviable location, designer Jarrod Potaka of Kate Nixon Studio worked with a palette of natural tones and textures, including limestone, marble, porcelain and bronze, to showcase the spectacular views, while mirrors invite the scenic beauty inside. “The aesthetic is contemporary and uncluttered yet sophisticated and refined… We really wouldn’t change a thing!” says Jarrod.

A redesign of an existing space was needed to create this stunning his-and-hers ensuite. To ensure a seamless connection with the main bedroom, Kate Hickling of Interiors by Kate designed large double doors that open onto the bath and vanities. “I love how it flows from the bedroom – we used the same paint colour on the walls and joinery so it felt like an extension of the bedroom,” says Kate. “There’s privacy where you need it, but the open layout with access to the vanities makes it a free-flowing, usable space.” The DadoQuartz ‘Julia’ bath and Carrara mosaic floor tiles steal the show.

This urban retreat in the heart of Sydney is much-loved by the owners. “It was important to create a haven for our client, who loves taking long baths,” says designer Brooke Aitken. A wall of vibrant peacock-green decorative tiles, which echo the curved lines of the walls and bath. “The bathroom is now a stunning sanctuary that serves the owner and her art-dealing clients, combining elegance with functionality.”

A contemporary interpretation of traditional Queenslander features, this luxurious ensuite in a Brisbane cottage flows seamlessly from the main bedroom, with timber screening to delineate zones and maintain a sense of privacy. With the aim of creating a sense of harmony and continuity with the existing home, designer Christopher Gyzemyter of CG Design Studio sourced refined finishes with warm tones. “I love the softness and warmth generated by the sheer curtains, use of aged brass and handmade elements,” he says. The V-groove cladding on the vanity further reinforces the connection with the original home.

An awe-inspiring fusion of contemporary Australian design and Moroccan influences, this ensuite is the ultimate sanctuary, with rich tones of natural stone and soft curves. “We designed this residence as a calming, coastal getaway, so we chose a coastal Moroccan theme,” says Rob Gray, director of GRAYA, the construction firm that built the Gold Coast four-storey residence, including this stunning ensuite. A bathroom that felt like a luxurious cave was the owner’s wish for an ensuite in a 1907 three-storey harbourside home in Sydney. To bring that vision to life, architectural designer Jade Young of Georgina Wilson Associates worked her magic to draw light into the semi-underground space nestled against a sandstone cliff looking out to the harbour. “We wanted to reflect the local landscape in all aspects of the house including the bathroom, choosing natural stones in neutral tones that reflect the light-filled, airy interior,” says Georgina. Every surface was considered to create an atmosphere that is refined yet in harmony with its setting.

Cristina Repeti of design studio Hare + Klein was thrilled to take on the job. The rural home’s design was based on the aesthetic of an agricultural shed, with simple lines and a restrained palette.
