Accomplished Dallas saxophonist to perform at UT Tyler's Summer Music Camp

Tyler residents can look forward to concerts this summer from participants at the university's  annual summer music camp.

And it won't only be the camp participants and university faculty performing.

World-renowned saxophonist Shelley Carrol will be playing at this year's camp as well.

"Each year, it's incredibly rewarding to welcome talented middle school and high school students from all over Texas and special guest artist to our camps," Sarah Roberts, UT Tyler's school of performing arts director, said. "The energy, creativity and passion they bring to the music is inspiring, and it's an honor to help foster the next generation of jazz musicians right here in East Texas."

Carrol plays with the Duke Ellington Orchestra and Sheryl Crow. He also regularly performs in Japan and Europe.

Carrol will perform with university faculty Thursday, June 26, at 7 p.m. The show will take place at UT Tyler's R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.
