The music biz is full of collaborations, and indeed it's not uncommon for songs originally written for some artists to be performed by others. What is also common is for people to associate one song with the wrong artist. Sometimes the voice or the composition is really similar to songs we would expect from a certain artist, so we assume the song is by them.
