'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere' trailer released. Watch it here

Bruce Springsteen the repairman.

The trailer for the upcoming biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen, frames the Boss' recording of his 1983 stark lo-fi classic “Nebraska” as a mission of self-repair.

“What he's doing with this album is he's repairing that hole in his floor,” says Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s long-time confidant and manager Jon Landau in the sepia-toned trailer. “He's repairing that hole in himself. And once he's done that he's gonna repair the entire world.”

The cinematic Boss and the E Street Band are then shown rocking thousands on stage singing “Born to Run.”

The trailer also features Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, and Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Doug, who coaches the young Boss in self-defense.

Yet there's trouble in Freehold, as the Springsteen family home has that metaphorical hole in the floor — and that has repercussions felt decades later in a rented home on Swimming River Road in Colts Neck, where “Nebraska “ is being recorded.

“I want to feel like I'm in the room by myself,” says White as Springsteen.

“Here's what I want you to understand,” says Strong as Landau. “This is not about either one of us. This is not about the charts. This is about Bruce Springsteen, and these are the songs that he wants to work on right now.”

“Deliver Me from Nowhere,” from Disney's 20th Century Studios, is written and directed by Scott Cooper (“Crazy Heart,” “Hostiles”).

'Deliver Me From Nowhere' movie release date

The film, based on the book “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska” by musician Warren Zanes, is scheduled to be released to theaters on Friday, Oct. 24.

The movie has undergone a subtle name change with the addition of "Springsteen" before "Deliver Me from Nowhere."

Location filming began in New Jersey Oct. 28, 2024, at the Montclair Library's Bellevue Avenue branch. Shoots took place in Asbury Park (including the Stone Pony and Frank's Deli), Freehold, Rahway, Bayonne, Denville, Rockaway and the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford for the “Born to Run” concert scene.

White does his own singing in the film. The Boss was often on the set of filming in New Jersey.

“Making ‘Springsteen’ was deeply moving as it allowed me to step inside the soul of an artist I’ve long admired — and to witness, up close, the vulnerability and strength behind his music,” said Cooper in a statement. “The experience felt like a journey through memory, myth and truth.

"And more than anything, it was a privilege to translate that raw emotional honesty to the screen, and in doing so, it changed me. I cannot thank Bruce and Jon Landau enough for allowing me to tell their story.”
