In a recent assembly with Defense Ministry officials, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un leveled accusations against the United States, claiming it is deliberately extending the conflict in Ukraine.
The 77th anniversary of the Korean People’s Army

The high-profile Defense Ministry meeting was held to mark the 77th anniversary of the Korean People’s Army but it saw the usual accusatory and anti-US rhetoric from Kim.
America is blinded by wild ambition

According to The Moscow Times, which cited a report from the state-run Korean Central News Agency, Kim accused the US of being blinded by its “wild ambition.”
Striving to create a unipolar world

The North Korean leader claimed the US ambition to establish a unipolar world was the main driving force "behind the scenes of the war machine" of current global conflicts.
Prolonging the conflict in Ukraine

NK News also translated Kim’s comments and reported that he pointed out his concern over a US desire to” prolong the conflict” to bring about Russia’s strategic defeat.
Standing with Russia

Kim promised he would continue to support Moscow in the “just struggle of the Russian military and people in defending their sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.”
Two problematic global situations

Kim said Ukraine would be one of the two "main axis of the tense international situation" in 2025, noting that the conflicts unfolding in Gaza and Syria would be the other axis.
Increasing the danger of a world war

The North Korean leader also went on to claim that the actions being fostered by the US around the world were “increasing the danger of the outbreak of a new world war.”
An impact on international peace

The Moscow Times noted Kim said a world war would have “a serious impact not only on international peace and security but also all other spheres of human activities."
North Korea’s Russian support

North Korea has become a staunch supporter of Russia since its detente with Moscow following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, 2024.
It began with supplying ammunition

The Washington-based think tank Atlantic Council reported that North Korea's support for the Ukraine invasion began in late 2022 with the delivery of artillery shells to Russia.
A new defense pact

Moscow restarted its bilateral relationship with North Korea, which ultimately led to the two pariah nations signing a historic defense pact with a mutual protection clause.
Bringing North Korea into the war

Signed on June 18th, 2024, the defense pact opened the door for North Korea to begin sending troops to Russia for its defense.
Millions of artillery shells

According to reporting from Time Magazine, by June 2024, Pyongyang had already sent upwards of five million artillery shells to Russia. That number has only increased since.
Upping support to Russia

As of October 2024, Pyongyang had shipped roughly 8 million artillery shells to Moscow as well as cruise missiles and Bulsae-4 anti-tank weapons according to Bloomberg.
