Caitlin Clark's frustrating injury plagued season goes on
In and out of the line-up

It has been ups and downs for Caitlin Clark this season, with the superstar guard being in and out of the line-up with injuries.
Oh my groin

The most recent ailment Clark has dealt with has been a groin injury, which has kept her out in late June and early July.
Caitlin's Superwoman cape

After missing time with an early season left quad strain, Indiana Fever fans were thrilled to welcome Caitlin Clark back into the lineup in mid-June. Her reintroduction to the lineup against the New York Liberty was nothing short of sensational.
Dynamic

Clark scored 25 points in the first half against the Liberty, and finished the afternoon with 32 points. More importantly, the Fever won the game, and handed New York their first loss of the WNBA season.
Crying without Caitlin

It was a welcome sight for Indiana and their fans, who had grown tired of seeing Clark in street clothes on the bench.
Picking up the pieces

The Fever lost their last two games in the month of May, after it was announced Clark would miss time with her injury on Memorial Day. One was a loss to the Washington Mystics, who were one of the worst teams in the WNBA last season. The other was a defeat to the Connecticut Sun, who had not won a game up until that point.
Nervous times

Meghan L. Hall of USA Today wrote at the time, “This isn’t panic button levels yet, but Fever fans might need a hug if this gets any worse.”
Down in the dumps

Hall continued, “The Caitlin Clark-less Fever are so much worse than I thought they’d be, and I believe the signs were there long before Clark’s injury.”
Style shift

Caitlin Clark is known for pushing the pace when she’s in the lineup for Indiana. Her aggressiveness allows spacing to develop for her teammates, which allows them to get easier looks at the rim. The Fever didn't appear to be able to replicate that when she was on the bench.
Feverish passion

Even though Clark wasn’t seen on the court in a May loss against the Mystics, she definitely made her voice heard. Yahoo Sports posted a clip of Clark storming onto the floor at halftime to berate a referee.
Sinking ship?

With their fearless leader out of the lineup, Indiana could not afford to absorb any more hits to their roster. Unfortunately, players like Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham also missed time while Clark was down.
Careful choices

Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell told Scott Agness’ YouTube channel in early June, “I think the one thing we’ve all been struggling with lately is just making conscious decisions, unconsciously. I think that we’ve been overthinking a bit, in every aspect the last couple games.”
Seeing blood in the water

Opponents knew that the Fever weren't at their best, and they wanted to rack up wins against a shorthanded Indiana squad. Connecticut’s Saniya Rivers told Sports Illustrated, “We knew that Caitlin wasn’t playing, and it’s obviously a totally different team without Caitlin. So we really wanted to exploit that.”
Worrisome

However, it is a bit troubling that Clark has been so banged up throughout the first half of the WNBA season. The Fever have large goals in September and October, and need a healthy Clark to achieve them.
