Kelly Clarkson Is "Devastated" That Health Concerns "Forced" Her to Cancel Shows
After two dates were postponed, Clarkson will resume performing this week.

The Gist
- Kelly Clarkson reportedly pushed herself "too hard," leading to vocal strain, a source close to the singer told People.
- This is why she had to postpone two of her opening Las Vegas residency dates.
- “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all,” Clarkson wrote on Instagram last week.
Kelly Clarkson reportedly "felt terrible" about canceling two of her Las Vegas residency dates at the last minute. The singer was scheduled to begin her Studio Sessions concert series at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on July 4, though health concerns forced her to postpone the opening.
A source close to Clarkson recently told People that she “didn’t want to cancel any shows,” but had to in order to protect her vocal cords.

“She was devastated and felt terrible for fans that had traveled to see her,” the insider added. “She’s been very excited about the Las Vegas residency and connecting with her fans.”
On Instagram last week, Clarkson explained how “prep and rehearsals have taken a toll” on her voice, and that she's now trying to “rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
“I want the shows to be perfect for y’all,” the Grammy winner wrote. “The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
Apparently, Clarkson's symptoms “came on quickly” after “long rehearsing sessions,” which explains why the postponements were so short notice.
“Even as a seasoned singer, she pushes herself too hard. Vegas is very dry too and it seemed this was an issue as well for the vocal health,” People's source said. “She was pretty much forced to [in order to] prevent long-term damage.”
Luckily, Clarkson is scheduled to get back on stage, with her first residency show slated for July 11.
