Tesco store closed temporarily as staff battle severe ceiling leaks

A Tesco store in Dublin was closed for a period of time on Tuesday as heavy rainfall came through the ceiling of the shop.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm on Tuesday at the Lucan branch of the busy brand.

A video shared to social media shows a heavy stream of water coming through the ceiling and building around the freezer area of the shops.

Wet floor signs were put in place, however it is understood the store was closed for a period as staff battled the serious leaks.

The video was shared on the Lucan Living Facebook page by local Richard Seager, prompting replies from fellow locals.

Another echoed: ‘That’s nothing that hasn’t happened before it’s going on years buckets everywhere.’

A third added: ‘Omg.’

A statement from Tesco Ireland confirmed to Extra.ie that the store was temporarily closed on Tuesday ‘due to intense rainfall’ but was fully reopened on Tuesday evening and is ‘trading as usual for customers.’
