Legoland California new space land to debut in 2026 with cosmic coaster
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — After Legoland California announced construction began this spring on the theme park’s first-ever indoor roller coaster, Legoland this summer announced the park will be getting a brand new, space-themed land where that intergalactic roller coaster will be.
The immersive space-themed land is set to open at Legoland California Resort in early 2026, the theme park announced, and will feature a new family-friendly indoor roller coaster that will blast off from the Legoland Spaceport 886 launchpad, named in homage to one of the original LEGO Space Buggy sets, #886.
The space land will have two cosmic rides in addition to the indoor roller coaster, a junior astronaut LEGO training zone for the toddlers to play, along with “galactic grub and gear” where there will be food, drinks and a themed retail shop with space souvenirs, according to the website.
The indoor roller coaster will be the theme park’s first new coaster since “Coastersaurus” opened in 2004 in Dino Island — now Dino Valley — and the park’s first-ever indoor roller coaster.
The new space land is part of a $90 million expansion project that Legoland’s parent company, Merlin Entertainment, is undertaking at its Southern California and Florida resorts.
Legoland California’s website says more details of the theme park’s space land expansion will be released closer to the grand opening.
The theme park’s website states if you purchase an annual pass now, you will receive first access when the new space land opens plus you will get to experience everything 2025 has to offer.
In addition to the upcoming space land the theme park just announced, the LEGO brand has been busy with summer collabs with Nike as they drop the Nike Air Max Dn x LEGO Collection, the Nike Dunk Low x LEGO Collection, and a line of apparel and accessories, along with the LEGO Nike Dunk set.
