Player Ratings from the Lions’ comfortable test win over Wallabies
The British and Irish Lions showed glimpses of their class as they comfortably dismantled the Wallabies 27-19 in Brisbane.
The score line flatters the Wallabies as they were well off it compared to the Lions, who should’ve had a few more scores if it wasn’t for poor composure near the Aussie try line.
The first challenge is done and dusted for Andy Farrell’s side now as they know just one more win will secure them their first series win since 2013. Farrell made a lot of big calls in the lineup but they nearly all paid off.

British and Irish Lions Player Ratings
Ellis Genge 8
A real force in attack, some monstrous carries. He suits this system so well.
Dan Sheehan 9
Has to be one of the best in the world at the moment, playing some incredible rugby this year.
Tadhg Furlong 7
Had a big start to the game and kept up that good tempo throughout his hour or so on the pitch.

Maro Itoje (C) 7
Another solid game from the skipper, some engine on him to constantly play 80 minutes.
Joe McCarthy 8
He was unfortunate to be forced off but he had really enforced himself onto the game, brought the physicality the Lions needed.
Tadhg Beirne 9

Tom Curry 8
Answered the critics who doubted him, the battering ram Farrell wanted
Jack Conan 8
Solid display from Conan, never disappoints.
Jamison Gibson-Park 9
He makes everything tick, so fast, so accurate, just so good.

Finn Russell 9
Playing some of his best rugby behind the best pack he’s played with, just a lovely player to watch.
James Lowe 5
His kicking was poor and he butchered an almost certain try in first half.
Sione Tuipulotu 7
Really ran the Wallabies ragged in first half with his carrying to the line and passing.

Huw Jones 6
Bit of white line fever for his disallowed try, didn’t do too much wrong outside of that.
Tommy Freeman 5
Looks like he’s not in sync with the rest of the backline at times. Has a tendency to look panicked.
Hugo Keenan 6
Was unfortunate with the Aussie’s first try but didn’t have too much to do outside of that.

Substitutes 6
There was a notable drop in quality and power when the subs came on. Chessum is not a like-for-like for McCarthy and it showed as Lions lost a lot of power. Lineout went awry after Kelleher came on. Special shout out to Will Stuart who showed some nice moments of skills and mobility in his cameo.

Andy Farrell 8
He went with size and power over skill and it paid off. Many questioned the dropping of Van der Flier and Morgan but the risk paid off hugely.
He’d be disappointed in the second half that the Lions let the Aussies into the game but mission accomplished for the first test. Now onto Melbourne next week to secure the series.
