Deodorant recall pulls 67,000 cases from Amazon, Walmart and Dollar Tree

More than 67,000 cases of Power Stick deodorant have been pulled from shelves after a deviation from federally-approved manufacturing procedures was discovered by the company that make them. The FDA confirmed that A.P. Deauville, the firm behind the popular Power Stick, issued a voluntary recall after identifying issues with its compliance to Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) rules. While there haven’t been any reported health incidents, this type of recall typically happens when production doesn’t follow the processes set out by the FDA, which helps ensure product safety and consistency (Picture: Power Stick)

The recall affects three types of roll-on antiperspirants that are sold under the Power Stick name, including the Power Fresh scent, the Spring Fresh Invisible Protection variety and their Original Nourishing Invisible Protection product. More than 20,000 cases of Power Fresh, over 22,400 of Spring Fresh, and around 23,400 of the Original Nourishing were impacted by the oversight. The recall officially began on July 10, following internal quality checks and FDA monitoring that flagged the recall issue (Picture: Getty Images)

Shoppers may have picked up these items from retailers like Walmart, where a 3-pack was available to buy recently for around $21. Or the budget store Dollar Tree, which sold bulk packs of 24 for just $30. The deodorant was also listed for sale on Amazon, potentially reaching even more customers. Consumers who bought any of these products recently are being advised to check the lot numbers and avoid using the affected items, though specific health risks have not been publicly outlined by the manufacturer or the FDA (Picture: Power Stick)

Each deodorant variety comes with its own list of affected batches. For Power Stick for Her (Power Fresh scent), the problematic lot numbers are: 032026B011, 032226B031, 051626C241, 061526C882, 071226D371, 071226D381, 082526E341 and 082826E402. So far, neither A.P. Deauville nor the FDA has indicated what kind of problems could result from using deodorant from these batches. No further product lines have been affected and customers who have the recalled items are encouraged to contact the company for guidance (Picture: Power Stick)

A.P. Deauville, which is based in Pennsylvania, also makes a range of other personal care products like shampoo, body wash, facial wipes, lotion and conditioner. According to the FDA, none of those items are involved in this recall. The company has yet to issue a public statement (Picture: Getty Images)
