New Scottsdale luxury hotel includes Japanese cowboy bar and an old-school diner
Old Town Scottsdale's newest boutique hotel, The Remi, opened on July 22, as a joint project between Crescent Hotels & Resorts and Alliance Hospitality Group.
The Remi is short for "reminiscing", said Shy Coleman, the hotel's director of sales and marketing, and in addition to luxurious accommodations, the new property debuted with several dining options: F/Sixteen, an old-school diner; Allegra, a rooftop pool bar; and three concepts under the name Kauboi, including a sushi restaurant, an outdoor robatayaki grill and a moody whiskey bar. There is also a cocktail-heavy lobby bar.
Here's a look at all of the restaurants and bars at The Remi Scottsdale.
What to expect at F/Sixteen
F/Sixteen is an all-day diner on the first floor of the Remi. The space is decorated with portraits and artwork of old Air Force imagery which invites guests back in time to an era of classic diners and jukeboxes, but with a modern twist. Garage doors line the length of one wall, which allow for the patio and dining room to join as one for an open-air feel during the cooler months.
The diner is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast options include pancakes, French toast, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, steak and eggs and other classic breakfast items. Lunch and dinner options include burgers, sandwiches, steak frites, baby back ribs and Southern fried chicken.
Drink options include beer, seltzers, wine, coffee and specialty cocktails with airline-inspired names.
What to expect at Allegra
Allegra sprawls over the hotel's entire rooftop space, which includes a laidback bar and a pool with breathtaking views of Camelback Mountain and Papago Park. Allegra's cocktail program includes unique drinks made with fresh citrus, local herbs and house made syrups.
What to expect at Kauboi
Almost the entire third floor of the hotel is dedicated to Kauboi, a Japanese-Southwestern restaurant that includes three concepts: a sushi bar, a VIP terrace and a whiskey bar.
Coleman said Kauboi is inspired by cowboy culture as it's perceived and enjoyed in Japan. A giant tapestry over the main bar evokes the imagery of "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Coleman said that at night, a projector hits the tapestry to make it look as if the images are moving, creating a mini-Western movie to accompany guests' meals.

The sushi menu includes nigiri and sashimi, as well as specialty rolls inspired by the Southwestern theme such as the Desert Heat roll made with spicy tuna, roasted poblanos, yellowtail and jalapeño relish or the Camelback Cactus roll made with salmon, grilled Nopal, charred corn, orange and tajin.
Other menu highlights include wagyu steak tartare, Kauboi caviar, Japanese milk toast, yakitori skewers, robata vegetables, clay pot wagyu fried rice, pork katsu and a 40-ounce Senku wagyu tomahawk steak.
Just beyond the main dining room is the whiskey bar. The lighting and decor are much darker and moodier than in the main dining room, making it feel like a completely different concept.
Outside on the terrace, VIPs get special treatment including a private bar and cabanas. When the weather permits, the doors can be opened to join the outdoor and indoor concepts.
What to expect at The Remi Lobby Bar
The Lobby Bar functions as an all-day gathering spot in the entryway of the hotel, serving coffee in the mornings and cocktails in the evenings. The design is sleek and airy, with plenty of natural light coming in during the day from the floor to ceiling windows that make up the first-floor walls. It also features exclusive backstage access to Maya nightclub and a grand staircase leading up to Kauboi.
