Dakota Johnson and Mom Melanie Griffith Coordinate in Sheer Looks on Rare Outing

Three of Dakota's siblings also came along.

  • Dakota Johnson was joined by her mother, Melanie Griffith, at a screening of her upcoming rom-com.
  • Three of her siblings, Stella Banderas, Grace Johnson, and Jesse Johnson, were also present.
  • Johnson's rom-com also stars Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans and lands this summer.

Dakota Johnson just made a rare joint appearance with her mom, actress Melanie Griffith, for a screening of her upcoming rom-com, Materialists. Also at the screening were three of Dakota's siblings, Stella Banderas, Grace Johnson, and Jesse Johnson.

Dakota wore a white scoop neck slip dress that was sheer from the thighs down. Meanwhile, her mom rocked a sheer brown turtleneck tucked into a pair of high-waisted jeans and a classic trench coat.

Stella, Dakota's half-sister and the daughter of Melanie and Antonio Banderas, matched with her mom in a brown dress and black leather jacket. Meanwhile, Grace, the daughter of Dakota's dad, Don Johnson, and his second wife, Kelly Phlegler, wore a black ensemble with a beige jacket. Jesse, son of Don Johnson and Patti D’Arbanville, rocked a white sweatshirt, jeans, and a gray cap.

Dakota and her siblings grew up surrounded by the entertainment industry—Melanie famously starred in films like Working Girl, Lolita, and Body Double, while her mother, Tippi Hendren, starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Nevertheless, Melanie initially "discouraged" her daughter from joining the industry. "See how well that turned out? But I understood," Dakota explained to W Magazine. "They wanted me to have as much of a childhood as I could."

In Celine Song's Materialists, Dakota plays a matchmaker who finds herself torn between two very different love interests played by Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. The film lands in cinemas on June 13.
