Student accommodation listed at €5,750 a month draws major backlash online
A Dublin student house has caused quite a stir online for the hefty price tag attached to the five bedroom accommodation, which one has said is a ‘complete and total exploitation’ of the housing crisis.
Crazy house advertisements are appearing on social media every day, to the point one would think they have seen it all.
Unfortunately, the housing crisis has given landlords the perfect chance to charge insane prices for often below standard homes.

The posting on Daft says the accommodation would ‘suit a group of friends looking to live together for the academic year. Max 7/8 people.’

The accommodation is a large house with four bedrooms and two bathrooms and a separate one bedroom mews building with kitchen and bathroom.
Facilities close by include Spar, a coffee shop as well as number of bus services.

Dublin Letting Agents Earnest are dealing with the house, which is for rent for a huge €5,750 per month — that’s €1,437.50 per bedroom.
WiFi and bins are included in the rent, meaning students staying at the pricy accommodation will need to take care of the electric themselves.

The accommodation posting was shared to the r/Ireland Reddit thread, with the poster writing: ‘I know it’s a share, but nearly six grand a month for a five bedroom terraced house in Finglas, is simply unconscionable and indefensible.
‘A complete and total exploitation of the current housing crisis.’

Loads took to the comments to have their say on the price-point, with one sharing a picture of one of the mattresses, which has staining.
‘Went through the advert and thought maybe the house is finished to an exceptionally high standard. Who doesn’t like sleeping on a stained mattress on a table…’ one pointed out.
Another added: ‘It’s an E1 BER rating as well which is not much better than a shed in terms of insulation and heat retention.’
A third hit out: ‘The state of the inside, I would be embarrassed to put that up for rent.’
