- End Of My Rant

The Seattle Seahawks look forward to the 2025-26 NFL Season with a very different roster than they finished off last year with. Seattle had a very eventful off-season highlighted by big trades, free agent signings, and what looks to be an excellent draft class. The biggest change for Seahawk Fans will be seeing quarterback Sam Darnold under center instead of Geno Smith. Seattle traded Smith to Las Vegas and then soon signed Darnold to a three-year contract. Coach Mike Macdonald embarks on his second year as the Seahawks head coach looking to improve on Seattle’s 10 and 7 finish last season. Along with the removal of Smith, the Seahawks gutted their wide receiver core, trading DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh and releasing veteran wideout Tyler Lockett. Seattle’s wide receiver room look vastly different, Jaxon Smith-Njigba returns now in a primarily role along former rival Cooper Kupp, which the Seahawks signed as well. Macdonald and Schneider also addressed the unit in the draft, selecting two wide receivers out of Colorado State and UNLV. Seattle’s defense greatly improved last season under their new head coach, improving to what could be a top-ten unit in 2025. Devon Witherspoon and Leonard Williams, two talented defensive players who received pro-bowl nods last season, return for the Seahawks. Seattle also acquired defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, a low risk high-reward type signing, that can benefit their pass-rush which was fairly decent last year. Seattle’s record has extreme potential but also could be very low, a lot of dependent variables. Their new quarterback could have trouble adjusting and succeeding outside of Kevin O’Connell’s offense. The defense can regress and fall back into their old tendencies. Smith-Njigba and Kupp are two slot receivers that haven’t truly played outside of that position. Their offensive line, despite being prioritized by the Seahawks in the draft, could continue to be their greatest weakness. Seattle will find success in 2025 and are an underdog to challenge the likes of San Francisco, Philadelphia, or Washington.
NFC West Divisional Games

49ers vs. Seahawks 4th quarter thread: Here we go again - Niners Nation
The NFC West, won by the Los Angeles Rams last season, is still one of the best divisions in football. The Rams made the divisional round until they lost to the Super Bowl champs. The 49ers experienced an injury-riddled 2024 but are expected to make their return as a contender in the NFC and Arizona is young and expected to win a few more games than they did last season. The Seahawks went 4-2 in their six divisional games last season, splitting with the San Francisco and LA, and swept Arizona. Seattle will repeat what they did last season, go 4-2 with a sweep on the Cardinals.
Week 2: A Visit Versus DK Metcalf

Seahawks' DK Metcalf raises his game by using tricks | Sports | wenatcheeworld.com
Emotions will be high for Metcalf and his former team. Pittsburgh has had a confusing off-season, trading away what most people thought to be their franchise wide receiver, George Pickens. They also gutted their quarterback room getting rid of both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Seahawks get the victory in this one pretty convincingly.

Two former proclaimed busts, two former Carolina quarterbacks, and two top-three picks in the 2018 NFL Draft. Mayfield and Darnold have much history. Tampa Bay were a playoff team last year and retained their whole starting squad. Unlike Seattle, The Bucs will be able to build off their chemistry from last seasons and that’s why the Buccaneers will take this early-season matchup.
Week 6: Seahawks Head To Duval

Jaguars Shake NFL Draft Landscape In Trade With Browns, Pick Travis Hunter at No. 2 - Newsweek
Seattle has Jacksonville outmatched in this one. They have them outmatched defensively and offensively. The Jags defense can be expected to give Seattle some competition early on but besides that they don’t have two Travis Hunters to matchup with Kupp and Smith-Njigba. Seahawks take this cross-country road trip victory.
Week 7: Monday Night Football vs Houston

Titans add veteran Tyler Lockett, boosting lean WR room | Football | nashvillepost.com
Many Seahawks’ Fans were very sorrowful about the loss of veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett. Lockett had played a whole decade for the Hawks and was a fan favorite. Seattle’s secondary led by Pro-Bowl corner Witherspoon will cause Cam Ward troubles. Seattle takes this one easily.
Week 13: Minnesota Come To Visit Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold: Fluke or Fixed? - Daily Norseman
The Vikings were a good competent team last year. Much is to be seen with quarterback JJ McCarthy starting for Minnesota. The Vikings went 14-3 under Sam Darnold but came up short versus the Rams in their wildcard game. This game will be decided on which quarterback can get their footing with their new team first. Sam Darnold has experience and will do just that. Seahawks take this win at home.
Week 14: Seahawks Head To Atlanta

Seahawks vs Falcons, NFL Week 7: Seahawks upset Falcons 34-14 in Atlanta - Field Gulls
Seattle faces two young, second-year quarterbacks in week 13 and 14. In Michael Penix Jr.’s short sample size last year he looked promising and could lead them to an NFC South win and much more. The Seahawks let this game slip, Atlanta wins it.
Week 15: The Colts Travel To The Pacific NorthWest

Knee-Jerk Reactions: Colts drop home opener to Seahawks 28-16 - Stampede Blue
The Colts set to begin the new season with a minor QB battle of Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. Indianapolis drafted Penn State TE Tyler Warren that should succeed versus the Seattle D. This is the trap game of the season, Colts take this one.
Week 17: End Of Season Visit To Bryce Young And The Carolina Panthers

Seahawks vs. Panthers Week 14: News, injury updates, odds, previews, recap - Field Gulls
The Panthers saw slight improvement after young QB Bryce Young regained his starting spot at the end of last season. he is expected to continue growing especially with new wideout Tetaiora McMillan. This matchup is one the Seahawks’ defenders should be comfortable with. Seahawks take this one.
End Of My Rant
The Seahawks end up 11-6 on the season, one win better than last year. With their record they should be able to clinch a playoff spot in the NFC. Sam Darnold will succeed alongside their other free agent signings. The defense continues to develop a new identity under Coach Macdonald, and Macdonald starts to receive recognition for his skills. Seattle’s draft class shows why they were graded so high by analysts. Rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe sees action in RPO and trick play looks. The Seahawks embark on the new season with good hope to restore the major success they found a decade ago.
