Peppa Pig just had a baby sister and she's got the cutest name

Mummy Pig has announced Peppa Pig’s new sister was born this morning.

The children’s cartoon character – who shared that she was giving Peppa and George a sibling in February – confirmed on Good Morning Britain that the new baby was born at 5:34am.

And her name is Evie.

It comes just weeks after the Battersea Power Station gender reveal party in which the new arrival was confirmed to be a girl by lighting up the towers in pink.

According to our first official snap of the happy family, Mummy Pig gave birth at the Lindo Wing in London which is the same location Kate Middleton welcomed all three of her children.

Prices at the exclusive maternity ward range from £5,900 for just one night, to £7,500 for deluxe packages.

During the GMB segment, presenter Richard Arnold said: ‘It’s a beautiful thing, Daddy Pig has just shared these pictures of Peppa’s brand new baby sister Evie, named after Mummy Pig’s Aunt Evie.’

A town crier announced her birth with a special plaque unveiling all the birthing details.

‘Understandably Mummy Pig is resting,’ the presenter added, sharing Daddy Pig’s first ever TV interview would take place next week where he would share more details

Speaking about the naming process to Grazia last month, she said: ‘I’m not sure Peter, Percy or Patrick Pig really work as girls’ names!

‘But it’s too difficult to choose now. When she’s here and looking up at me and Daddy Pig, we’ll just know the perfect name. That’s what we did when Peppa and George were born.’

Elsewhere, she spoke about how ‘times are tight’ financially and so she plans to use plenty of Peppa and George’s old baby things.

And she promised to take us all along on the journey as she embarks on motherhood for a third time.

‘I’m self-employed and working from home, so it’s all quite flexible. There won’t be too much pressure to get back to writing, but it’s what I love to do, so I’ll be posting throughout my journey and providing lots of tips and tricks for all the mummies and daddies out there.

‘Stay tuned and be sure to follow my socials oink!’

For fans excited to watch how the Pig family are adapting to the growing family life, Peppa Meets the Baby will screen in cinemas globally on May 30 in an hour-long special featuring brand new episodes based around the family’s new arrival.

The synopsis teases ’10 oinktastic new episodes, 6 brand new songs and music videos’ for fans to delight in.

During her exclusive pregnancy announcement to GMB presenter Richard in February she revealed she was ‘thrilled.’

Then added: ‘A little overwhelmed at the thought of having three children under five running around, but mostly just completely delighted.’

Families can also join a ‘Welcome Baby Weekend’ at the Peppa Pig Store in Battersea Power Station, and a special appearance from the whole Pig family at Peppa Pig World on 1st June.
