Italian newspaper La Stampa reported that Klopp had agreed to take over at Roma, where Claudio Ranieri is moving upstairs from the dugout at the end of the season.

Klopp started as Red Bull's Global Head of Soccer in January and has a contract which runs until 2029.

He admitted that he was 'running out of energy' when he announced in January last year that he would quit Liverpool.

The German, 57, wanted to spend more time with his wife Ulla and has also become a grandfather.

And his agent Marc Kosicke has rubbished any link to Roma, telling WinWinAllSports: 'Klopp coaching Roma? This news is not true.'

A report in Italy claimed he would be replacing Claudio Ranieri at Roma at the end of the season

Klopp told fans that he was 'running out of energy' for management when he announced his Liverpool exit last year

Indeed, even Italian outlet La Stampa - who initially reported the 'news' on Sunday night - have since denied that Klopp will be taking the Roma job.

The newspaper had apparently misinterpreted a video published by the club and taken it as a signal of Klopp's impending arrival.

Ranieri, who has given the club a fighting chance of Champions League football with a game left in the Serie A season, will become the club's sports advisor.

Last year, as he revealed his exit to heartbroken Liverpool supporters, Klopp cast doubt on the idea of him ever managing again.

'If you ask me, ‘Will you ever work as a manager again?’ I would say now no,' he said.

'But I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation. What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool.'

The exhaustion, stress and relentlessness of life as Liverpool boss, in addition to becoming a grandfather for the first time, led him to make the decision to leave Anfield after nine successful years.

He was rumoured as being among the favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid but Mail Sport understands that was never likely.

The German appears to be enjoying his role as Red Bull's Global Head of Soccer

Klopp is contracted to work with the energy drinks giant's football operations until 2029

Some thought he might take a dip into international management - most likely the Germany or England job - and it remains to be seen if he would ever consider that.

Klopp has already travelled to Japan and Brazil as part of his new job with Red Bull and the energy drinks company also have teams in Europe and New York.

Last year, he said: 'I work, but not what I did before. I'm not just lying around, although sometimes I am. I don't miss anything.

'Other top coaches won't be doing this forever either. The next generation is already out there. At some point, it will be up to them to start developing and changing football.

'There are already a lot of people from back then who are getting a taste of it. And more are coming because they're that age now. I'm really happy to watch them.

'And if I can help them with advice and support, I'm happy to do so. They probably think that after working with me for a while: If he can do it, we can do it too. It can't be that difficult.'
