Promising better sound and crystal-clear projection, Cinema West Civic Plaza 12 theater in Hesperia is unveiling its brand-new IMAX Laser big screen this week.

The first IMAX showing at Cinema West is on Friday for the debut of the spy-thriller film Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, starring Tom Cruise, as Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt.

The rated PG-13 movie is the eighth installment and possible finale of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise that will feature agent Hunt tracking down "The Entity," a rogue artificial intelligence, which threatens to wreak havoc on humanity.

Cine West executives said IMAX will bring the world’s most “immersive film experience” to the High Desert, with its laser projection and a multi-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX.

During a tour of the IMAX auditorium, or screen No. 3 in Hesperia, Cinema West General Manager Julian Delgado shared about the nearly six-week process of converting the screen to the IMAX format.

“They removed and replaced all of the audio speakers and big screen before converting to IMAX equipment,” Delgado said. “Today, we have a crew installing new carpeting and IMAX signage before the Friday showing.”
