Avoid these foods before going on a date
Fiber

Fiber is great and you need it in your diet, just be aware that it might not be the best option before you go on a date, for obvious reasons. Here are some high-fiber foods to avoid.
Cruciferous vegetables

Although your gut bacteria can utilize fiber for energy, a byproduct of fiber metabolism is actually gas.
Whole wheat bread

Another high-fiber food that must be avoided before a date.
Dairy products

Lactose can be difficult to digest, even for those who are not lactose intolerant.
Beans

Other legumes such as lentils and peas can also cause discomfort, so they’re best avoided before a date.

The solution? Rinsing and draining canned beans can help get rid of some of those gas-inducing carbs.
Gluten

Pasta, bread, and any other foods containing gluten should therefore be avoided before going on a date.
Fruit

But there’s more. Fruit is high in a sugar called fructose. You body sometimes struggles to break down all the sugar in fruit, leading to gas.
Carbonated drinks

Fizzy drinks are a good way to get some gas trapped in your GI tract. And yes, this gas has to leave your body somehow.

So it's best to avoid sodas, beers, and anything with carbonation before going on a date.
Polyols (sugar alcohols)

Read food labels and look for sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, maltitol, maltitol syrup, lactitol, erythritol, isomalt, and hydrogenated starch hydrolysates.
Too much protein

Protein shakes can exacerbate the problem. This is because the most popular choices, whey and casein, contain lactose.
Dairy

Some of the bacteria present in our mouths feed on dairy, and this can result in an unpleasant odor.
Canned tuna

Fish in general is not a great option before a date, but the smell of canned tuna can be particularly unpleasant.
Horseradish

Horseradish contains a chemical compound called isothiocyanate, which can give you bad breath.
