UT Tyler baseball, softball seek to be first school to win both national championships in nearly 30 years

Together, UT Tyler baseball and softball could be making their mark in history this year.

The Patriots could be the first school in almost 30 years to win both baseball and softball Division II national championships.

The only other teams to do that were Kennesaw State in 1996 and Cal State Northridge in 1984.

The softball team is in the Division II World Series for the second year in a row. The Patriots are in the final series of the championship. The No. 1 Patriots will play No. 2 Tampa starting Tuesday, May 27 at 6 p.m.

The second game will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28. If a third game is needed, it will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 28.

Also making great accomplishments this year, UT Tyler baseball has entered the World Series as a Division II program for the first time. As a Division III program, the team previously entered and won the championship.
