Jalan Raja in KL to be partially closed from June 9-15

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced that Jalan Raja (the road that bisects the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Merdeka Square) will be partially closed on a trial basis from June 9-15. Specifically, the stretch that branches out to meet Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman will be closed.

During this period, light vehicles coming from Jalan Raja will be allowed to turn right into Jalan Tun Perak, but those coming from Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Tun Perak will not be allowed to enter Jalan Raja. There will be directional signs and enforcement officers to assist motorists.

As a result of this, GoKL, Rapid KL and Hop-On-Hop-Off bus routes will also experience temporary changes – users are advised to refer to their respective service operators for further information.

DBKL says the closure goes towards creating a more liveable, pedestrian-friendly and organised city through the opening of wider and safer spaces for pedestrians, families, children, senior citizens and the less able. If you have some thoughts and opinions on this partial closure, why not share them with DBKL through its public survey?
