Adidas BW Army (BW stands for Bundeswehr -Federal Defense) was a request of the German army to Adidas in a millionaire contract. They wanted comfortable and functional shoes. In 1998, Margiela used them for their models, boosting the popularity of the shoe to the stratosphere.
