Caitlin Clark discusses Angel Reese after Fever thrash Sky
WNBA stars

The WNBA is hoping that Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark continue to be talked about in the same breath as their careers unfold.
Blockbuster matchup

The Fever’s matchup with the Chicago Sky in early June was supposed to be one of the headline matchups of the season. The game was moved to the United Center in Chicago to accommodate more fans, as spectators were hoping to catch Caitlin Clark in a matchup against her perceived arch-rival, Angel Reese.
Cutting down Chicago

The game turned out to be a disappointment from a competitive perspective as well. The short-handed Fever ran circles around the Sky, blowing them out 79-52 in front of a large United Center crowd. Chicago did lose starting point guard Courtney Vandersloot early in the game to a season-ending knee injury, and they weren’t able to provide much resistance after that.
Pumped about steps

One moment that went viral from that game was a sequence where Reese traveled with the basketball. Clark and Cunningham seemed to take great delight in that, with Cunningham bunny-stepping on the sideline and Clark mimicking the hand motion for traveling.
Reese’s rundown

In 27 minutes, Reese finished with four points and 12 rebounds. She may have been hurt by Vandersloot’s injury, as the point guard may have put Reese in better positions to succeed had she not gotten hurt. With that said, Reese needed to fill up the box score a bit more with her team struggling.
Caitlin’s commentary

Even though she didn’t suit up, Clark was asked about her personal rivalry with Reese, and the Fever’s potential rivalry with the Sky. Clark told Yahoo Sports, “I mean, you guys love it, that’s for sure. Rivalry is great for sport, like, I understand that.”
Personal connection

Clark continued, “I grew up loving rivalries. I grew up in Iowa. Iowa-Iowa State. That’s like a pro matchup in the state of Iowa. Like, I understand that… Rivalry is always a big thing, so I think it’s that more than anything.”
Night and day

According to Stathead’s website, the rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese is pretty one-sided. As of mid-June 2025, Clark’s Fever have defeated Reese’s Sky in four out of five career games.
Clark’s edge

Clark also has the advantage in nearly every statistical category. Reese far outpaces Clark in the rebounding department, but the Fever guard has the edge in almost everything else so far in their career.
Triumph

Additionally, Clark led the Fever to the WNBA postseason as a rookie, whereas Reese’s Sky were on the outside looking in during the 2024 playoffs.
Rough play

During Indiana’s first game with Chicago in May 2025, there was somewhat of an eyebrow raising play involving Clark and Reese. The Fever guard took Reese to the floor on a hard, but ultimately clean foul. Reese took exception in the moment, and started yelling at Clark as the Sky forward rose to her feet.
Looking ahead

Reese was asked about the sequence after the game, but didn’t want to get into detail about it. She said that it was simply a basketball play and that everyone had moved on.
Health is wealth

The Fever have to be happy that they are winning games without key contributors, but are looking for their full complement of players to be healthy in short order. It goes without saying that Indiana’s dreams are capped if Clark can’t return to the lineup at full strength.
