Fever star Caitlin Clark breaks 3-point shooting drought in electrifying way
Caitlin Clark hadn't hit a 3-pointer in a week's time with a drought that ended a made 3-pointer streak dating back to her sophomore year of college.
She sure snapped that in an energizing way that got the home Indiana Fever crowd to their feet as her back-to-back 3s gave the Fever the lead against the New York Liberty. Indiana built a title-contending roster and had trailed by as many as 15 against the reigning WNBA champions.
But Clark hit a 3-pointer with 64 seconds left in the frame and drew a foul. She hit the free throw, and then hit a stepback 3 to beat the third quarter buzzer to give the Fever a 76-68 lead.
"Yeah, i think just staying confident in myself, keep shooting, keep battling ..." she told the CBS broadcast after the third quarter.
Clark had missed 14 straight 3-pointers before her scoring outburst against the Liberty. Her last made 3 came with 7:28 left in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's loss against the Atlanta Dream. Her 0-for-5 performance from 3 in Thursday's win vs the Atlanta Dream was her first game without a made 3-pointer since she was 0 for 6 on Jan. 13, 2022 against Purdue.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) attempts a 3-pointer against New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu (20) on Saturday, May 24, 2025, during a game between the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
