Will Caitlin Clark play in Commissioner’s Cup vs Minnesota Lynx? Indiana Fever rule on availability

MINNEAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever will be without Caitlin Clark for a third consecutive game Tuesday with the WNBA All-Star officially ruled out for the Commissioner’s Cup championship game vs. the Minnesota Lynx with a left groin strain.

This is the same injury that forced Clark to miss Indiana’s loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on June 26 and their most recent outing, a 94-86 win over the Dallas Wings.

Clark participated in mostly non-contact shooting workouts during Sunday’s practice and was listed as questionable on Monday’s injury report. Coach Stephanie White said she would be a gametime decision during shootaround Tuesday morning at the Target Center.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) reacts to scoring a 3-pointer Saturday, May 17, 2025, during a game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Indiana Fever defeated the Chicago Sky, 93-58.

“Again, I think the most important thing for us is big picture,” White said late Tuesday morning. “There is no sense in rushing anything, so we’ll get her evaluated by the training staff and go from there.”

Clark said she felt "good" after practice Sunday but remained day-to-day.

“(I’m) doing everything I can to put myself in position to play the next game every single time,” she said. “That’s always my goal, to be available for the next game. I’m doing everything I can with the medical staff to be able to get my body right.”

This is significant news for the Fever, obviously, who will be on the road against a first-place Lynx outfit that’s lost just twice this season and is powered by the league’s leading scorer, All-Star captain Napheesa Collier.

Clark is averaging 18.2 points (39% FG, 29.5% 3PT), 5 rebounds and 8.9 assists through nine games. She averaged 12 points on 27.6% shooting with a 1-for-23 mark from 3 and totaled 28 assists over her past three games.

The game can be seen on Prime Video.
