Hit Netflix movie watched 25 million times in just 3 days to dominate top 10 chart
Streaming is a pretty crowded marketplace, with platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max and YouTube all vying for our attention. Yet despite all of the high-quality options, the market leader rarely needs to look over it shoulder. Netflix still dominates the space. And with more than 700 million regular viewers, that's not about to change any time soon. So when something is a hit on the streaming service, that means some seriously impressive viewing figures. This past week's top 10 most popular movies list has just been released, showing us a bunch of films that have racked up a staggering number of watches. 10. Nonnas - 3,200,000 views
A former number one on this list, this light-hearted comedy about a group of local Italian-American women rallying around and helping out a neighbour's failing restaurant business doesn't sound like a smash hit in terms of plot. But with talent such as Vince Vaughn, Talia Shire, Lorraine Bracco and Susan Sarandon on board, that's a strong enough cast to convince plenty of people to watch it. 9. Mikaela - 3,400,000 views
Sneaking into the top 10 in its first week of release is this Spanish thriller about an unexpected snowstorm hitting the sunny nation, a paralysed highway and the high-stakes armoured car robbery that takes place when everyone's distracted. This chilly thriller is directed by Daniel Calparsoro, arguably Spain's best action helmsman, so there's pedigree here. 8. M3GAN - 3,800,000 views
We know dolls are creepy. And we know robots and AI can be creepy. Combine them and there's no way that an AI robot doll isn't going to freak us all out. Make a really rather effective horror film about a killer AI robot doll and you've got yourself a bit of a hit. Horror studio Blumhouse may find M3GAN creepy, but they love her nonetheless. The movie about her cost them only $12 million to make. Yet returned far, far more at the box office. And it continues to make them money on streaming. 7. Jaat - 4,100,000 views
It's all high-octane drama and explosive action for this next movie. Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda bring the heat in one of 2025’s biggest Hindi box office hits. This gritty thriller follows a highly-skilled Indian government operative whose quest for an apology sparks an all-out war with a Sri Lankan laborer-turned-crime boss. After a hugely successful theatrical run, Jaat is now doing great business on the small screen. Almost five million people watched Bee Movie last week. It was the Seinfeld-produced, written and voiced Dreamworks flick's second week on the streamer, so clearly viewers are listening to the buzz. 5. Now You See Me - 4,900,000 views
Directed by Louis Leterrier (The Transporter, Clash of the Titans), this is a slick - if somewhat flawed - heist thriller that follows a team of magicians who pull off daring robberies during their performances and reward their audiences with the stolen money. Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco are the light-fingered illusionists. With Mark Ruffalo, Mélanie Laurent, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine featuring in supporting roles. In the two weeks it's been available to stream on Netflix, some 17 million people have sat down to watch this Spanish romantic drama. In it, a man receives a heart transplant and, on feeling markedly different after the operation, decides to investigate the life of his donor. In doing so he meets a widow and falls in love. 3. K.O. - 14,000,000 views
In K.O., a former MMA champion (played by Ciryl Gane) who's haunted by his past, is hired by the widow of a man he once killed in the ring. Teaming up with a vengeful cop, he descends into the violent underworld of Marseille to rescue a kidnapped boy from a ruthless local crime gang. It might not have the biggest budget, but the fight scenes are frenetic and energetic and, at 84 minutes, it zips along nicely (Picture: Netflix)
2. A Widow's Game - 16,600,000 views
We've got yet another Spanish film in the Netflix top 10. A Widow’s Game ('La Viuda Negra') is a 2025 thriller directed by Carlos Sedes that's inspired by the real-life 2017 murder of Antonio Navarro in Valencia’s Patraix neighbourhood. Ivana Baquero stars as María Jesús 'Maje' Moreno, the seemingly grieving widow who secretly manipulates her lover, Salvador, into killing her husband in a parking garage. Carmen Machi plays Detective Eva, whose investigation peels back the veil on Maje’s affairs and deceit. It's a pleasing mixture of procedural drama with psychological thriller that details a real‑life web of betrayal that millions of people are currently finding fascinating (Picture: Netflix)

This tense and emotionally-charged psychological thriller directed by Tyler Perry is something of a phenomenon on Netflix right now. STRAW follows Janiyah (the brilliant Taraji P. Henson), a struggling single mother whose day spirals from hardship - eviction and job loss - into a shocking bank hostage scenario triggered by her desperate need to retrieve a pay check, as well her ailing daughter’s science project. Henson’s raw and powerful performance is winning lots of fans. And the film’s gut‑punch twist - something that reveals some pretty profound grief - have struck a serious chord with viewers.
