Oregon’s Northwest Rafting Co. was voted the second best outfitter for “Best White Water Rafting Tour” on the USA Today 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards.

Located in Hood River, Northwest Rafting Co. offers river training, rower school and river trips across Northwest waters, as well as two international destinations.

Rafters can choose to raft the Owyhee, Rogue, Illinois, Chetco or Salmon rivers. Whitewater classifications range from Class III to Class IV, and trip lengths vary from four to six days.

For the international destinations, rafters can choose a nine day excursion between Class III waters in Paro, Bhutan, or Class IV/V waters on the Futaleufú River in Chile.

Hikes, food and relaxing in nature are all part of the experience.

Guides prepare food as part of the excursions. People who are vegetarian, vegan, have celiac disease or have other dietary requirements will be accommodated, as long as guides know in advance.

Rafting trip prices in Oregon range from $1,545 to $3,595. For international trips, prices range from $4,500 to $5,295.

The USA Today 10BEST contest focuses on highlighting the best of travel and lifestyle categories, including destinations, food and drink, and attractions.

A panel of judges nominates selections for each category that are then vetted by USA Today 10Best editors before they are voted on by the public for four weeks.

Hood River is located along the Columbia River. The town offers outdoor recreation and natural beauty and is in close proximity to the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood.
