Clemson football dismisses Upstate star Marquise Henderson

Belton-Honea Path's all-time leading rusher Marquise Henderson signed with Clemson football as an athlete.

CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Clemson football has dismissed Upstate star Marquise Henderson from the team according to a release Thursday.

Belton-Honea Path’s all-time leading rusher is no longer a Tiger.

Clemson football released the following statement about the former four-star recruit:

“Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program. We wish him the best as he moves forward.”

No official reason was given about why Henderson was let go, but the statement did say we are likely to see his name in the transfer portal sometime in the near future.

To get there, the Bears knocked off the first-year charter school from Spartanburg Mountain View Prep in an epic Upper State Championship, which ended MVP’s undefeated season. Henderson rushed for nearly 6,400 yards in his high school career and averaged an incredible 11 yards per carry during his senior season.

At the time he signed, Clemson Football Head Coach Dabo Swinney complimented Henderson’s versatility, speed and strength for his size and said his whole future was ahead of him.

Unfortunately, seven months later, that future will not be with the Clemson Tigers.

Henderson is the first Clemson football player to be dismissed from the team since 2023.

The Palmetto Sports team will provide updates on the official reason for Henderson’s dismissal and where the former BHP star could play next on-air and online.
