Iran's revenge on Israel

Iran fired a barrage of missiles at Israel on the morning of June 22, injuring at least 21 people, including four who were seriously wounded, according to paramedics. As reported by CNN, the attack was in retaliation for the U.S. joining Israel's week-long campaign against Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

Hits in four places

According to Israel's Magen David Adom emergency response service, the Iranian missiles struck in four separate locations: Haifa, Tel Aviv, Be'er Yaakov, and Nes Ziona.

Search and rescue operations

Local media reported that search and rescue operations were ongoing in Tel Aviv, where individuals were believed to be trapped beneath debris from a collapsed building.

30 missiles launched at Israel

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told CBS News that approximately 30 missiles had been launched by Iran toward Israeli territory. In response, Israel carried out airstrikes using fighter jets on targets inside Iran, the military confirmed.

Massive damage

Footage and images broadcast by Israeli television networks and shared widely across social media depicted extensive structural damage and first responders assisting injured civilians.

No warning in Haifa

The IDF noted in a statement to the press that during the missile barrage, no warning sirens were triggered in Haifa despite a missile impact occurring there.

An issue with an interceptor

"The possibility that there was an issue with the interceptor is being looked into," the IDF said, referencing Israel's missile defense systems. "There was no malfunction in the alert system and a previous warning had been issued to the area."

Just hours after Trump announced the bombing of Iran

The BBC highlights that the missile assault by Iran came just hours after President Trump announced that the U.S. military had launched coordinated strikes on three of Iran's nuclear facilities: Isfahan, Natanz, and the heavily fortified Fordo enrichment site.

Midnight Hammer

During a June 22 briefing in Washington, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine detailed the U.S. operation, codenamed "Midnight Hammer."

Bunker buster bombs

Caine stated that seven B2 bombers equipped with bunker-buster munitions targeted Fordo and Natanz, while Isfahan, already subjected to days of Israeli bombardment, was struck with Tomahawk missiles fired from submarines.

Israel attacked several Iranian cities

Israel's military added that it carried out strikes on June 22, targeting dozens of missile and drone launch sites across several Iranian cities, including Isfahan, Bushehr, Ahvaz, and Yazd.

IDF claims an Iranian long-range missile facility was destroyed

According to the military, among the targets was a strategic missile command facility storing long-range missiles, from which roughly 60 were launched toward Israel.

Soldiers loading missiles eliminated

"During the strikes, an IAF aircraft identified Iranian Armed Forces soldiers loading missile launchers and eliminated them," the IDF said in a statement.

450 missiles launched at Israel from Iran

Since the onset of Israel's "Operation Rising Lion" against Iran, the country's National Public Diplomacy Directorate reports that Iran has launched over 450 missiles and 400 drones at Israel.

At least 24 killed

Israeli officials state that 24 people have been killed in Israel, all during the early phases of Iran's retaliatory response last week.
