The images that show the destruction in Gaza as six more die from hunger
The Gaza Strip has been reduced to rubble, with hundreds of buildings in ruins and tents for those displaced now occupying the ground where homes once stood.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war first broke out. In recent weeks, mass hunger has resulted in further causalities, leading to international outcry over how aid is distributed.
Charities and humanitarian groups have criticised the controversial US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
Oxfam, Amnesty International, and Save the Children are amongst 165 organisations calling for an end to the Gaza Humanitarian Fund after dozens have been killed whilst waiting for food. The French foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, said the GHF had “generated a bloodbath in distribution lines in Gaza”.
The GHF has rejected the claims against it while US envoy Steve Witkoff visited one of its sites and said the organisation is delivering “more than one million meals a day” in what he called an “incredible feat”.
As well as strained aid routes, photographs from a Washington Post journalist who boarded a Jordanian aid flight on Wednesday gave an aerial insight into the mass devastation of the enclave.
On this day, the two flights dropped more than 16 tons of food and baby formula, which Israel had given permission to drop.
It comes as six people have died from hunger in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from malnutrition to 175 since the start of the war. This figure includes 93 children.
According to medical workers in the Gaza Strip, 22 people have been killed in attacks today – 16 whilst they were waiting for humanitarian aid.

The Palestinian Red Crescent has said that one of its workers was killed last night and three more were injured when the IDF attacked its headquarters. The IDF has denied the claim that there was an attack.
Previously, images of the damage were limited to satellite imagery, military photos released by Israel, and footage captured by Gazans.
Images show seven schools demolished by the Israeli strikes. Al-Zahawi Preparatory School for Boys, Asdood Secondary School for Boys, Abo Thar al-Ghafary School, Julis Secondary School for Boys, al-Awda Primary School, Sarafand Preparatory Male School and Samy al-Alamy Male School have all been destroyed and their courtyards have become home to those living in tents.
Mosques and the Ministry of Economy were also among the buildings razed to the ground.
Maher Halseh, a Royal Jordanian Air Force navigator, described the destruction of the Gaza Strip, adding: “Everything is different. There’s no buildings, nothing. A lot of tents on the shoreline. I start to see it when all the buildings were there. Nowadays, there’s nothing. They are dying over there”.

As starvation continues to spread, the UK Government said this week that hundreds of sick children will be evacuated from the Gaza Strip to be treated by the NHS.
Under the plan, 300 children will receive medical attention in England. It has been reported that more than 50,000 Palestinian children have been killed or injured since October 2023.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced last week that the UK would recognise a Palestinian state in September unless “substantive steps” are taken by the Israeli government to end the situation in Gaza, commit to a ceasefire, and begin the process of establishing a peaceful two-state solution.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have claimed that they only target militants. They said in a statement yesterday: “IDF actions are based on military necessity and in accordance to international law”.
